We have new computers at Briarcliff!
North Kansas City School District recently updated the computers in the high schools. They then took the laptops that the high school kids had, refurbished them, and placed them in the Elementary Schools.
When this happened, we went from having 30 laptops on our computer carts to 120.
There was also a generous donation to increase our internet bandwidth. With the extra computers, and the added internet capability, we are able to do much more in the classroom with technology.
We'll be starting that on Monday.
Beginning Monday, children will be doing a WebQuest. With a WebQuest, students follow several links to research new information. They then use this information to produce a PowerPoint. It sounds simple, but kids usually love doing the research online. It's also more real than simply giving them a handout.
You can preview the web quest the kids will be following by clicking here.
The children will also be writing blog posts so make sure you watch this space.
